Where's my goddamn reset button?!?
In category General on 06 Dec 2006 @ 07:55 am
I was late getting ready for work this morning so I run out the door about 7:20am and run for the train station. About 30 seconds later I stop running and put my headphones on to listen to music on my Sandisk Sansa e260 as I do every morning. Only this morning I don't hear anything. I get it out of my pocket and see that the software has locked up. I don't know how or why but it has. Simple, I'll just reset it. There's no reset button.

There's no way to use this device until the battery is disconnected from the rest of it. I walk the rest of the way to work angrily in silence, refraining from throwing the device into traffic because I'd rather yell at Sandisk for being so stupid. I borrowed a small screwdriver when I got to work and managed to pull it appart and disconnect the battery. I put it back together and it works fine. If it does it again I will be taking it back and asking for my money back and generally being very angry at useless companies. A reset button is simple enough to do but you'd have to accept that your fancy product can fail.
It better not happen again.

Nah, no need for a reset button--it can't fail.

I know my iPod doesn't have a reset button either, BUT it does have a reset sequence (you hold the forward and reverse buttons for x seconds I think...) Maybe the Sandisk also has a similar sequence ?

Actually not a bad idea; it might power a bus one day. I should email and ask Sandisk as the instruction booklet seems non-existant.
