4am is not the warmest time of the morning
In category General on 02 Dec 2006 @ 04:27 am
So I'm in Pitts and it's terminally 4am in the morning. The plan was to get up after the moon had set so I could get photos of the stars without them being so washed out. I did some tests at 10pm and the new lens seems pretty awesome for low-light photos but it's hard to tell until I get them onto a computer.
So anyway I get up at 4am and look out my window and I can see a few stars so I get dressed and get out of bed and wander outside to this:

Apparently the few stars I could see were through tiny holes in the massive amount of cloud cover. I was going to wait and see if it moved but by the looks of that radar image, it'll be a bit longer than that. 4am is probably a bit too late to do this. Next time 2am might be the ticket. On a clear night that is.

Update: 4:30am and it's practically daylight.
