Day 2: LAX and Chicargo
In category General on 02 Dec 2005 @ 07:29 pm
After I got off wireless last time over in Japan I got on my flight which was over 10 hours and got me to L.A. some time in the morning before I left. On this flight I had planned to finish my book and sleep for about 7 hours so I'd be awake ready for the day when I arrived. This was exactly the moment that I discovered it was impossible to sleep on a plane. This was much to my annoyance as I had already finished everything I had to do and ended up wasting the last 6 hours of my flight watching, "Stealth", "The Incredible 4", and "Godfather 3".

The first thing I noticed about L.A. was the smog. It was like a yellow-grey cloud sitting very low to the ground. It was so bad I was glad it wasn't me lloking for the runway trying to land the plane. I made it through U.S. customs in a matter of minutes having filled out all the appropriate forms on the plane and all the people that were making people explain themselves were already busy doing exactly that and didn't give me a second glance, even with the ponytail. This left me a few hours to kill in L.A.X. so I wandered around searching for wireless internet. Which there was none. So I went so some stupid little internet kiosk that cost 25c a minute and didn't let me do anything I wanted to do until it crashed, like all the other internet kiosk machines owned by the same company, taking with it the last 4 minutes of my time which I wanted to say bye to people until I got to Lansing.

Chicargo also has no wireless internet that I can use so I'm writing this into a spectacularly fancy notepad window. My flight has been infinitely delayed at this point along with every other flight from this terminal due to at least one of the following reasons, bad weather, lack of crew due to other flights being delayed, or due to the fact that they discovered one of their planes is broken and won't fly. I'm not sure if they've tried talking to the plane and asking why it won't fly but in the mean time they're looking for a replacement plane that still has the basic urge to fly. This is going to be my entry for today which is still December 1st (as it has been for last 40 hours or something).

New update. My flight appears to still be cancelled. There appears to be fuck all I can do about it except wait until they have a plane and a crew that will feel like flying to Lansing. They have the time 12:19am up on the board but they're just saying it feels like a good guess. Apparently our plane felt like flying to Illinois and may or may not come back to get us and take us to Lansing. And I was worried that my flight to Chicargo being delayed was going to be a problem. HA! Some people wisely gave up hours ago and decided to drive. They'll be getting there about now. Unfortunately I have no choice except to wait and not sleep until they do manage to provide a flight. Go United. I forgot to add. I also have no luggage. I presume it's sitting outside on the ground somewhere also waiting for a plane. It says 11:50pm now!!! Super exciting! This seems like a great reason to not use United Airlines ever, for the stories people are telling here, this happens a lot when you try to fly United.

If you're reading this I made it there alive.
Pity you have to fly them to come home

I haven't whined at all about my housemates! Well, you asked me.

Once again, have a good time or I'll surprise the Pintara with a visit from Xzibit.
