Well I emailed the Seagate tech support and this is the responce I got.

Maz,

This is definitely not normal, I would suggest updating the SATA
controller drivers. You can download the latest SATA controller drivers
from your motherboard manufacturer.

I guess that means that I have to pay Umart and get the drive back until it reports an error code, then demand the $35 back when the drive IS R.A'd. This is really getting stupid now because I know I'll be refused the $35 back. Let this be a lesson to everyone. Companies think one person won't make a difference. They don't care what your problem is.
Fix it yourself or replace it.

mmm i dont think its the SATA, howeve all my drive losses where caused by my faulty PSU
