Seagate complaints!
In category General on 12 Sep 2005 @ 11:01 pm
It would appear I've just lost my 200gb SATA HDD. I came home from work and it was resetting and is undetectable on startup. I don't think this is a problem that only I am having. I originally bought the ST320082 2AS last year but had to return it under warrenty before for the same problem. As far as I can tell there is nothing I can do to look after this drive any better. It even has its own cooling, and still it dies. I think this is a Seagate problem.
If anyone has any suggestions as to how to contact Seagate and let them know I have a problem, please leave a comment. This is really giving me the shits. What's the point of them making a 200gb drive or larger, if it just means you lose 200gb or more of data.

Rang them, service wa great when my 80gb died, better than most of the others.
I think they are deliberately making them die...

That sucks. Are you sure it's the drive, and not the controller, cable, power supply, or something else like that?

It has been running seemingly fine for the last 6 months or so. If it was anything else it would have gone wrong before now? But no, I'm not sure.

It's seems to have been running ok for the last couple of days. The question is whether on not it's worth risking the 200gb of data? Anyone know how to test the controller?
