Some people love them, some hate them.
Some of them work, some don't (i.e. Sophie's brand new one).
Of the 4 of my friends with iPod, 3 hate them and 1 loves it. Scruff may just be a Mac fanatic but seems to have had no trouble with his. (edit: this may not be the case. Will find out the details and add them soon)
The other 3 have major problems (too numerous for me to bother writing here). This is not a good rate of customer satisfaction. Not with fierce competition in the same product area.

Have you considered that Apple's target market may not be techie types?

Oh.. and the non techie types are going to love the message "Error: Unable to update firmware". I think Apples target market may just be non-existant.

It seems to be Sophie's cradle that is screwed. So somehow Apple have screwed up a direct pass-through..
