I hate Compaq
In category General on 07 Mar 2005 @ 02:03 pm
As they wage mental warfare on their customers with irritating features of their hardware. Keep in mind that this rant is immediately following an experience stripping an old Compaq 550 Celeron.

1) Screws: Anyone who has ever tried removing even the case off some of the old Compaq's will know.. They're not phillips head, they're not flat, THEY'RE A PAIN IN THE ASS!

2) Screwless design: Assuming that you're only adding or removing ram.. Everything (optical drives, HDD's, etc.) all clip in nicely.. By attaching to screws (see above) that are screwed into the drive before hand.

3) Price: This one is just obvious. Pre-built system = expensive.

4) CD-ROM?: This might have just been an issue with today's Compaq. The CD drive doesn't fit into a normal case. I had to use a knife and trim the faceplate to get it to fit.. *Maz speechless*

Bearing in mind that this was an old machine and that I don't know anyone wasting money on pre-built systems anymore Compaq may have (HOPEFULLY) have fixed all these problems by now.
