The technology strikes back!
In category General on 07 Mar 2005 @ 01:48 pm
My day began to the buzzing of my alarm which I promptly switched off before going back to bed. But my conscience wouldn't let sleep knowing I had uni at 10am. So I got up entirely too early and managed to drive Sophie and I to St. Lucia. I found the COMS4200 introduction to C pretty interesting, almost entertaining, even if I have used C before. After the lecture I went to the COMS tute (that I haven't signed up to) and found out that the tutorial questions were on the web to be done in preperation.. You learn something new every day, just not COMS.

At 1pm the technology saga began with a trip to Umart (which didn't have any RAM) and then to Surpass to get RAM. When I eventually put the new computer together there were issues with a 10 - 15 year old fujitsu drive that I had to save data off. (Also see blog: I hate compaq). Well after finally giving up on using the old drive in the new machine at all I partitioned the 200GB into system and backup and started installing software. Once the OS and office applications were installed I recieved a phone call from KJ who wanted my opinion on his Xeon system which, as far as we can tell, has simultaneously lost two 34GB Raptor drives. A major problem. So we chatted for a while before I came home to update this on the off chance someone ever reads it. Between when I started this and now Sophie has asked me to look at her brand new iPod which has a faulty drive and has to be returned.. (See next blog). Our reliance on technology will doom us all *Says Maz on his online journal*.
